Our History

The journey of Knorr-Bremse Global Business Services (GBS) began in 2016, when Mr. Heinz Hermann Thiele approved the Shared Services Europe business case—laying the foundation for a centralized service model.

In 2017, the first Shared Services Center opened in Liberec, Czech Republic, focusing on Accounting, IT, HR, and Indirect Purchasing. A year later, the project delivered €5.1 million in savings, confirming its success.

In 2020, services expanded to include IT enhancements, Reporting, and Controlling, further strengthening operations.

A major shift came in 2023, when the Executive Board approved transforming the European model into a global one.

By 2025, Knorr-Bremse GBS had grown into a worldwide organization with hubs in Liberec (Czech Republic), Monterrey (Mexico), Pune/Chennai (India), and Suzhou (China), providing Finance, HR, Purchasing, and IT services across the Knorr-Bremse Group.
